In the European Parliament, we are working on 5G. This is ultra-fast Internet. And this is very important to understand that due to 5G networks, some reactions and transmissions of data will be possible in milliseconds.
Gigabit Society means that as consumers, as citizens, as patients, as people, as parents in our families, we will have some new possibilities to change our lives. And also, in our homes, we will have Internet of Things, and we will have the possibility to use smart devices and we will create the connections between all devices in our homes.
All of these will be possible due to those new networks and we need to work on it. What is important? To have decisions that ensure that are going in the direction of 5G, to have some timely decisions done by Members States, related to the spectrum allocation spectrum and harmonisation on decisions, and also to be open to using new technologies in our companies and in our lives.
Technologies are much faster than legislation. And in the competition between technology and legislation, technology will always win; which means that it is important to have rules, but avoiding the situation in which we will have strong regulations but not adjusted to the real technologies, we need to work with new technologies, give them soft law.
