JOINT STATEMENT - Attacks against telecom employees must stop now

 
The European trade union federation representing telecom workers, UNI Europa ICTS, and the Associations representing the telecoms industry, ETNO and the GSMA, have joined forces to call for swift Institutional action to stop attacks against telecom employees and to promote correct information on mobile technology while also taking steps to minimise the spread of misinformation that encourages attacks against either the workers or the infrastructure.

WORLD TELECOMMUNICATION DAY

May 17th was World Telecommunication and Information Society Day #WTISD. The purpose of WTISD is to help raise awareness of the possibilities that the use of the Internet and other information and communication technologies (ICT) can bring to societies and economies, as well as of ways to bridge the digital divide. The United Nations celebrated May 17th by publishing a short video highlighting the importance of telecommunications during the COVID-19 crisis.

In addition, the UN showcased the essential role information and communication technologies have in trying to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals for 2030.
