Power and rulemaking in digital markets: New policies, global challenges, EU ambitions

26 September, Brussels & online By FT-ETNO

The Tech & Politics Forum 2022 makes a return to in-person, after being fully online for 2 years. The “Power and rulemaking in digital markets: New policies, global challenges, EU ambitions” full-day event takes place on 26 September, from 9am – 5pm, in Brussels and online.

As the digital world increasingly becomes indistinguishable from the real world, technology has never been so high before on the agenda of business and political leaders. We invite you to join industry CEOs, leading policymakers, investors, NGOs, civil society and thinkers to debate topics that are shaping the digital world of tomorrow, including:

  • Europe’s new digital industrial policy
  • The future of the EU Internet ecosystem
  • The future of the digital economy: regional versus global alliances
  • Europe’s hunger for connectivity: fibre, 5G, 6G and beyond
  • A hands-on approach to digitally-empowered sustainability

Apply to attend in person (here) or online (here).

Lise Fuhr’s speech at the DIGITAL SUMMIT organised by DigitalES

ETNO Director General Lise Fuhr joined the DIGITAL SUMMIT organised yesterday by DigitalES, under the honorary presidency of H.M. Felipe VI.

Lise praised the broad availability in Spain of very high capacity networks and fast fixed broadband, which is almost twice as widespread compared to the European average: “This is not called luck. It is called telecom investment. The question is how do we bring ultrafast networks to every single citizen not only in Spain, but across 27 Member States in Europe?

Moreover, Lise pointed that the European telecommunications sector has invested in the past decade “Over half a trillion euros. To say it in another, more concrete way: this equals more than 1000 euros per every European citizen.”

Follow the full intervention by Lise Fuhr at the DIGITAL SUMMIT organised yesterday by DigitalES, under the honorary presidency of H.M. Felipe VI.
