5 telecoms things to watch in 2023
 

Cool handsets, glittering content and handy applications are part of the everyday experience of many European users. Communications networks and services are what underpin it. More than that: their characteristics define how much more cool, more glittering and handier consumer services will be.

What is in store for 2023? ETNO's Director General Lise Fuhr worked with the ETNO team to identify the five top telecoms trends to watch next year: network AI, metaverse VR, climate-driven solutions, 6G and the path to a quantum internet.

Enrico Salvatori highlighted the role innovation can play in connectivity: 5G progress & innovation, AI for processing capacity into devices, connected intelligent edge in cooperation with cloud technologies… Innovation in these technologies is necessary for Metaverse services and the digitization of our economies.

Mr. Salvatori also highlighted the opportunities brought by 5G going in the direction of 6G, and the challenges to increase investment to evolve towards a hybrid, physical and digital world: the Metaverse.
