Europe needs to scale up to remain competitive against tech rivals. In the published White Paper on the future of telecommunications, the EU executive body acknowledged the needs for digital infrastructure in Europe, by introducing lighter regulation as a springboard for a level playing field to allow more deal-making and synergies between network operators. It also challenges operators to deliver the investments needed for the bloc’s digital transformation.
