ETNO-FT CEO Summit, Brussels, 8 October 2013: One single telecom market for Europe?

The ETNO-FT CEO Summit has become a landmark annual telecoms event. This year, One single telecom market for Europe? will be the underlying theme of the 2013 edition of the ETNO-Financial Times CEO Summit to be hosted in Brussels on 8 October. The Summit will be opened by Mrs Neelie Kroes, Vice-President of the European Commission for the Digital Agenda.

Coinciding with the forthcoming EU Council devoted to the Digital Agenda and at which the European Commission will present proposals to accelerate the creation of a single market for telecoms, the ETNO-FT Summit will be a unique forum for industry leaders and policy makers to share their views on how to achieve this vision and how to restore Europe’s leading role on the global telecoms scene.  One of the main reasons behind the current revenue decline faced by the electronic communications sector is the fragmentation of the European market. This hampers the development by operators of new innovative services throughout the EU. Changes in the market structure are necessary. It is crucial that European telecommunications market achieve  larger scale efficiencies through consolidation, in order to be in a better position to invest in next generation fixed and mobile broadband infrastructures, offer new services and  compete with non-EU players”, says Luigi Gambardella, ETNO Executive Board Chair.

The ETNO-Financial Times CEO Summit will bring together the Chief Executive Officers of the leading telecoms operators, innovative start-ups and equipment providers from Europe and beyond. Invitations and the final programme will be distributed shortly.
